Instructions
Bake your own bread with ease! Do not hesitate to adjust the consistency of the dough by adding flour or water. The dough should be sticky to tough, but not actually sticking to your hands. Once you have mastered this bread, you will have an easy go-to recipe for all of your bread needs.
Step-by-step
To prepare:
- Mix in a large mixing bowl until the dough cleans the sides of the bowl
- Knead for about 10 minutes
- until the dough is smooth and elastic
- Put dough into an oiled bowl and turn once to cover with oil
- Cover bowl with plastic and let rise until doubled in volume (about 3 hours in a warm environment, 6 in room temperature)
- Divide dough in half and shape into round loaves
- Put loaves in baskets or on floured cloths or in oiled pans, cover in oiled plastic wrap and let rise at room temperature until doubled in volume (about 2-4 hours)
To bake:
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees
- Score risen loaves
- Bake loaves for about 40 minutes
